This course focuses on turning centres. Note that a similar course is available for machining centres. Participants will learn how to program CNC turning centres in four lessons. The more you know about basic machining practices as they apply to turning operations, the easier it will be to learn to program a CNC turning centre. We emphasize manual programming (G code Level) techniques. It is with this style of CNC programming that you can be the most intimate with the CNC machine tool, commanding everything the machine will do from within your program. In your chosen machine type, it is suggested that you register for all three core courses at the same time. Students completing one level will not be guaranteed placement at the next level.
Students with previous experience who wish to enter a higher-level CNC course, without completing previous levels, will be required to demonstrate CNC skills and competencies prior to registration. Contact program area for the required forms. Students registering in CNC courses are accepted on a “first come - first served” basis.

As a student of Mechanical Techniques - CNC Programming, you’ll benefit from a curriculum built on hands-on learning. The CNC Programmer Certificate is the highest level CNC certificate program and is designed to address the need of manufacturers for people with the ability to program computer numerical control (CNC) milling and turning machines using ISO/EIA "G & M" code programming. This course of study teaches learners to write programs to machine parts in CNC lathes and CNC mills. Learners also learn to program CNC machines using computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software. Participants will write programs, proof the programs, set up CNC machines, call up programs, and run the programs that they write to produce parts.
CNC Mill Programming - BasicAn introduction to planning and writing programs for computer numerically controlled milling machines using G and M code. Participants will write basic programs for CNC (Computer Numerical Control) milling machines, proof programs, and run programs in CNC machine tools. Learners will set up workpieces in machines, enter programs, set tool offsets, enter cutter compensation, and complete part projects. Programming basics will include multiple tool programs, macros, cutter compensation and canned cycles.
